If Salesforce CRM is in your tech stack, and you're using LinkedIn to find prospects and generate leads, then connecting LinkedIn to Salesforce will be an absolute game changer for you.
The challenge often faced by businesses with LinkedIn is that activity is tied to an individual’s profile. So, when someone in your business has a great conversation, unless the details are transferred across to your CRM system nobody else within the business will have access to it. The upshot is that a colleague could approach the same contact and this can look rather unprofessional. Even worse, if the person leaves the business, the relationship and communication trail is lost - potentially losing sight of the opportunity altogether.
This challenge can, however, be overcome by connecting Salesforce to LinkedIn, and the good news is that Dux-Soup makes this super easy. All contact data (email addresses, LinkedIn URLs, etc) and message threads can automatically flow (with the help of Dux-Soup) from LinkedIn and be updated in Salesforce thanks to our clever integration. It means your business can retain a central prospects data repository that every team member can access.
And, even better, there’s a lot more you can automate once the LinkedIn data is in Salesforce - including your entire lead generation process. We’ll come onto all that right here in this blog.
First, let’s look at the tools you need to connect Salesforce to LinkedIn:
- Salesforce - admin rights are required, and a Salesforce edition with the API available: Enterprise, Unlimited, or Developer editions. Plus, you can add API functionality to the Professional edition. (Note that no API access is available with Group or Essentials editions)
- A LinkedIn account
- A Dux-Soup Turbo or Cloud license

What is Dux-Soup?
Dux-Soup is a LinkedIn automation tool that executes time-intensive LinkedIn activities, such as sending connection requests and messages or coordinating multi-step personalized drip campaigns to generate leads.
Used by over 279,000 people across the world, users regularly share benefits such as:
- 75% time savings
- 3,000% increase in LinkedIn results
- $1.5 million of sales generated
Dux-Soup is all about growing your sales pipeline and closing more business via LinkedIn, and it is brilliant at this. It also happens to be brilliant at integrating LinkedIn with Salesforce.
Compatible with LinkedIn, Sales Navigator, and Recruiter, Dux-Soup acts on target lists that you create, recording LinkedIn profile data as it automates its actions, which you can either download or send straight to Salesforce. This is where the magic begins.
Our integration with Salesforce can send LinkedIn data of your choice straight into your CRM. And this is only the start of what makes Dux-Soup a game-changer! So, if you’ve got Salesforce, LinkedIn, and Dux-Soup at the ready, what are you waiting for? Let’s quack on and set up the integration:
Connect your integration in the Dux-Dash
Head to the Dux-Dash, and from the CRM Connections menu on the left, click on ‘New Connection’ and then select ‘Salesforce’.
You will be taken directly to Salesforce to authorize access. And, well, that’s it - you're now connected!! Simple, huh?
You can refer to our support documentation on installing the Salesforce CRM connector.
Transferring data from LinkedIn to Salesforce
Now let’s choose what data you want to transfer from LinkedIn to Salesforce. Back in the Dux-Dash CRM connections, enable your Salesforce integration by sliding the ‘Enable’ toggle. Then from the drop-down options shown below, select which contact data you’d like to flow into Salesforce.
This is neat, as you may not want to pull across all contacts visited by Dux-Soup into Salesforce; you may only want to choose 1st-degree connections or certain Dux-Soup tagged profiles to be more selective. Most users choose to transfer ‘connected profiles’ into Salesforce.
For more information on each of the profile types above see our Salesforce integration settings article.
Dux-Soup brings data from the following LinkedIn fields into Salesforce:
- Contact data available within LinkedIn
- LinkedIn ID
- LinkedIn Industry
- LinkedIn Profile URL
- LinkedIn Summary
- LinkedIn Title
- Dux-Soup Tags
- LinkedIn Connection Degree
- Dux-Soup Notes
- LinkedIn Location
Once set up, Dux-Soup will automatically push LinkedIn data into Salesforce as per your chosen settings. Note that it may take a few minutes to update your Salesforce environment with LinkedIn data so don’t panic if it’s not there immediately.
This is how the data brought across by Dux-Soup from LinkedIn will look in Salesforce:
Automated Salesforce actions
There are additional automation options available with the Dux-Soup integration which you can now enable:
We think it's super cool being able to automatically create a Salesforce chatter for new LinkedIn connections and messages and get the whole conversation with a prospect all in one place. Here's how your chatter looks in Salesforce:
Triggering Dux-Soup actions from Salesforce
Now that you’re transferring data from LinkedIn to Salesforce, did you know that you can also command Dux-Soup to run automation actions directly from Salesforce? We built a 2-way integration, meaning that you can save time AND fill your sales pipeline at the same time.
To do this, first follow our support guide to add our ‘custom component to your Salesforce contact screen. Once you've done this, you’ll see the following Dux-Soup Connector actions appear on your Salesforce contact details screen:
- Update
- Message
- Enroll
- Connect
Providing you have a LinkedIn URL and LinkedIn ID for any contact, you can now automate LinkedIn outreach using Dux-Soup.
Update
Triggers a Dux-Soup auto-visit to that profile in LinkedIn which will update their contact details with the latest from LinkedIn.
Message
Sends a direct message via LinkedIn. Just type your message in the box that appears under the Salesforce chatter’ and hit ‘send’. The conversation thread will also appear in your LinkedIn messages.
Enroll
When you click ‘Enroll’, a list of Dux-Soup campaigns that you created in the Dux-Dash will appear. Select the campaign you want, click OK and that contact will be enrolled.
Connect
Sends a connection request to that profile using Dux-Soup.
So, you can now really start to drive your sales pipeline hard - directly from Salesforce. It's the integration we've all been eagerly anticipating and we can't wait for you to try it out.
